Question: The term 'ascending minister' means those who are in training to be ordained in their calling. Should such be left to preach to the congregation from the pulpit in the absence of the pastor?

Answer: We believe that the answer to your question would depend entirely on the maturity and capabilities of the preacher. If he is a capable speaker and has something of value to say, we see no reason why he should not be allowed to speak. On the other hand, if he is of questionable character or has shown himself to be unreliable, he probably should not be entrusted with this responsibility. To us, the fact that he is not 'ordained' has no relevancy to this question. The issue is the man, not the status of his ordination.
