Question: Is masturbation a sin? this question has been asked by hundreds of men, so ultimately it is a question that each individual will have to answer in his heart. The Bible does not make a direct reference towards masturbating, but it does talk about things that could be associated with it. For instance Matthew 5:28 Jesus said 'Whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.' Since masturbating is associated with sexual fantasies and free racing thoughts, we need to ask ourselves if we can masturbate without lusting in our hearts and without entertaining improper fantasies. Also ask yourself if it makes you feel defiled in the body, heart, or conscience? Do you feel doubtful or even guilty after doing it? I believe that the logic of both of our positions would lead to the conclusion that habitual, or psychological dependence on masturbation is not God's plan. The Apostle Paul said in Phillippians 2:5'Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus' I don't think Jesus had a lustful, sexually fantasing mind, so then why should we? 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 says ' For the weapons of our warefare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds. Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.'
