Question: I have discussed wanting to wear pants with my mom. She tried to explain why I couldn`t wear them but I didn`t understand. So I got on here to ask you and I still don`t understand too well why I can`t wear them. I don`t see anything wrong with wearing pants. I was also wondering what you thought about wearing make-up. I wear only a little make-up and don`t think there is anything wrong with wearing the amount of make-up that I wear. Thank you for your time.

Answer: We encourage you to obey your parents even if you don't understand exactly why they consider certain things to be inappropriate. At your age, it really doesn't matter if you think there is anything wrong with putting on make-up or wearing pants; the only thing God is looking at is whether or not you are obeying your parents. Colossians 3:20 says, 'Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord.' This is your responsibility. We are optimistic that as you get older, you will eventually understand why these things are important. At that time you also will begin to appreciate your mother for taking a firm stand on these matter.
