Question: There is a popular ministry teaching that the aliens and ufo's are coming, speaks of zodiac signs as astronomy. Many in the churches are embracing these things of the occult. They say the book of Enoch speaks of the constellations therefore they are of God. Ok yes, God did put the constellations, but you don't find Virgo, Taurus and Sagittarius in the book of Enoch. These all are rooted in Babylon...paganistic. Babylon named these zodiac signs. What do you think? Do you believe in the Masseroth?

Answer: I own an interesting book called 'The Gospel in the Stars' by Joseph Seiss. In this book, the author claims that God established the Zodiac as a means for telling the gospel story to the world. This is what David was referring to when He wrote, 'The heavens declare the glory of God' (Psalms 19:1). The author says that the constellations were taught to man by angels. He also says that it was orginallly supposed to begin with Virgo (the virgin) and end with Leo (the Lion of Judah). As you mentioned, it was the Babylonians who perverted the Zodiac and changed the starting point to Capricorn. I have no trouble accepting this idea.

As for the Book of Enoch, we are not aware of any churches that accept this book as divinely inspired. It obviously is not. There were lots of books and letters written in the first three centuries, but God has overseen a process of accumulating only the books that He wanted to constitute the Word of God. Today, we have all we need in the Bible. The Book of Enoch is interesting, but spiritually it is garbage!
