The Bible says, 'The backslider in heart will be filled with his own ways' (Proverbs 14:14). It is incompatibale to be walking in the ways of the Lord while at the same time being full of your own ways. The only way a backslider can come back to the Lord is if he humbles himself and admits that he has been full of his own ways. This will require great honesty and humility, which quite frankly, most people don't have. It's not that Jesus won't receive a backslider; it's that most backsliders are too proud to come to Jesus on His terms. They think they should be accepted on their own terms. Won't happen!
