Question: With everything that is going on in the world like hurricanes, wars, terrosim, and the decaying of society, is Christ's return only a short time away?

Answer: Jesus said that the days immediately preceding His coming would be marked by wars, famines, diseases, and earthquakes (He didn't mention hurricanes). He also said that these days would be like the days of Noah before the flood (see Matthew 24:7-8 and 37). The Old Testament tells us that in the days before the flood, the world was filled with wickedness, violence, and corruption (Genesis 5:5,11). This certainly seems to indicate that we are approaching the Day of His coming.

What does this means to the believer? In Matthew 24:42-44 Jesus warned, 'Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.'

If the time is indeed near, then we must be watchful as to what is going on around us and we must be ready. This is not the time to be sleeping but the time to be about the Lord's business.

We suggest you read our article titled 'The Rapture: As We See The Day Approaching.' It can be found in the Apostolic Free Library on the Endtimes shelf.
