Question: I've just heard that in Cleveland, Ohio, instead of writing a check they can just scan their hand and there is a little chip in their hand that tells their checking account number how much money they have in the bank. Could this be the mark of the beast? May the Holy Ghost and the blood of Christ protect us all.

Answer: Thanks for informing us about this latest development. Keep in mind that the mark of the beast is more than just a technology; it also involves the ability to buy and sell. We cannot say we have reached the mark until it becomes the only means for transacting a sale. Revelation 13:16-17 says, 'He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.'

Furthermore, the mark of the beast involves being faced with a life or death decision. Revelation 14:9-11 says, 'Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.'
