Question: Is the church going to go through God's wrath? Or are we going to be spared that part of the tribulation?

Answer: 1 Thessalonians 5:9 says, 'For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.' This verse indicates that those believers who are living right will not experience the wrath of God. We are appointed to salvation. Just to be clear, it is important to recognize that the outpouring of God's wrath upon the godless world will not happen during the time of great tribulation but immediately after. The dividing line between tribulation and wrath is the great cosmic event when the sun, the moon, and the stars fail to shine their light upon the earth. Compare what Jesus says will come before this event in Matthew 24:29 and what Peter says will come after it in Acts 2:20.
