Question: I just got back home from a great camp meeting with the rest of my youth group and I have been under persecution from 'Christian' people that I associate with. I am an Apostolic Pentecostal and unashamed, but persecution really hurts. I know that Jesus was persecuted and if I wish to be close to Him I must drink from His cup and be persecuted as well. I am trying to stay calm when they persecute me because I don't believe their 'trinity'. They have called me a heretic, part of a cult, and a non-Christian. Those are very hurtful things to be told. Can someone please give me words of encouragement from the Word of God? Also, how do you deal with persecution?

Answer: We can encourage you with the words of Jesus Christ Himself, who said, 'Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you' (Matthew 5:11-12). Just remember, their animosity is really not against you; it is against the truth and against Jesus Christ Himself. Just hold on to Him. He will bear you up.
