Question: I believe women should have “uncut” hair, however every time a “brother” or “sister,’ gets a “revelation” for a women to cut her hair, they seem to always quote 1 Corinthians 11:16, 'But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.' What was Brother Paul meaning by this?

Answer: We believe the meaning of what Paul is saying is captured better in the New Living Testament, which says, 'But if anyone wants to argue about this, all I can say is that we have no other custom than this, and all the churches of God feel the same way about it.' We see Paul's statement in verse 16 as answering his question in verse 13. In 13 he asks, 'Is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?' In 16 he answers, 'But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.' In other words, we have no custom of women praying with their heads uncovered. They always have their heads covered, and the covering is their hair (verse 15).
