Question:	How do I explain in simple terms the purpose of water baptism and the complete plan of salvation to people, and also, is the blood of Jesus applied through the water baptism?

Answer:	The blood of Jesus is applied for the remission of sins when a person, having repented and believed, is baptized in the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 2:38; 22:16). This is the only way for a person coming to God to receive remission (or forgiveness) of sins. The Bible gives no other. Some people point to 1 John 1:9, but that was written to people who were already baptized. We suggest reading our articles titled 'What is the Gospel of Jesus Christ,' 'Burial in the Plan of Salvation,' and 'the Water and the Tree.' They can be found in the Apostolic Free Library on the Doctrine shelf.
